By slowing down the flow rate of the oil, the detergent additive holding the fine dirt in
suspension passes slowly down through what could be called a 41/2" filter bed. The fine dirt is removed and the detergent additive is allowed to go out cleaned to encapsulate more dirt which it brings back to the FILTAKLEEN cartridge. In fact, the detergent additive starts
to act like a fleet of garbage trucks, going out to collect the garbage which is then brought
back and deposited at the FILTAKLEEN dump. This ongoing cleaning means simply that instead
of the dirt building up in the oil, it is building up in the FILTAKLEEN cartridge instead.
